host the ‘Welsh Street Food Awards’ in Milford Haven.
The best traders from up and down Wales fought it out to win the judges’ votes, and the general public - at the first ever Welsh leg of the awards, with a place in the British Street Food Awards finals and the chance to represent the UK in the European Street Food Awards finals in Berlin at stake.
“It was a fantastic weekend which saw the majority of traders sell out more than once, which is always great!” said a spokesperson for the event at the Milford Waterfront
“The people of Milford Haven were an absolute dream and we all felt incredibly welcome - it was a pleasure to hold this event in this lovely town.
“We are so proud to have been involved in this wonderful event and we are already looking forward to next year.
“Thank you to everyone who voted and came down and tried some of the amazing street food there is to offer in Wales!
A round-up of winners are as follows:
Public Choice - 1st. Assembelly; 2nd. Goodfillas; 3rd. Makasih; 4. The Pod.
Judges Choice - 1st. Paternoster Farm (will now go to the London finals); 2nd. Spicers’ Meat Wagon; joint 3rd. Assembelly, and Makasih.
The winners Assembelly and Paternoster Farm will now go to the London finals.
Assembelly’s Toby Bradley-Watson who originally hails from Manorbier where his mum and dad still live, said he was ‘delighted’ with the accolade.
“I am delighted to have got though, I was hoping to place but to be going to London to represent Wales is a huge honner, even more so seeing that the overall Welsh winner, Paternoster Farm is also from South Pembrokshre,” he commented.
Toby, who attended Netherwod School in Saundersfoot, runs his ‘Assembelly’ mobile vendor company from an impressive converted horse box.
Organisers have also confirmed they will be back in Tenby in June 2019 for another Pembrokeshire Street Food Festvival.
