Businesses in Tenby’s St. George’s Street have been foced to close early today (Wednesday) after a power cut.

Workmen undertaking carriageway reconstruction work are believed to have cut through a power cable plunging the area into darkness.

Earlier this month, we reported the businesses were up in arms over the choas caused by the roadworks and delays in carrying out the work.

“Just when you think the situation can’t get any worse with delays this happens,” said Yvonne Uka, of The Lounge 2.

“All the businesses have had to close because we have no power.”

The Observer has contacted Pembrokeshire County Council and Western Power Distribution about the incident.“At 2.57 pm today we received reports of a loss of supply to approximately 35 customers in St Georges Street, Tenby as the result of third party damage to one of our underground cables. We estimate all those customers should be back on supply by 19.00 hrs this evening.” said a spokesperson for Western Power Distribution.
