On Thursday, St. Andrew’s Church hosted an evening of songs of praise led by Rev. Graham Lloyd, interim priest.
Well-attended by people of Narberth and sister churches in the benefice, the congregation sang favourites such as ‘Guide me O Thou great Jehovah’ and ‘All things bright and beautiful,’ as well as more modern hymns such as ‘One more step along the world I go.’
As well as an evening to gather and sing, this was also an occasion for fellowship, and refreshments were provided during the interval.
The regular parish organists, Mrs. Judith Scale and Mrs. Megan Hughes, provided the accompaniment and the church wardens and Rev. Lloyd spoke about each hymn and gave a selection of relevant readings.
Leading Wren Elaine Lidgate introduced the hymn of her choice and sponsorship, ‘Eternal Father strong to save,’ linking it not only to her career in the WRENS, but also to the importance of Pembrokeshire as a maritime county.
Other hymns were kindly sponsored by local businesses - Rushacre Garage, Tan Y Castell Foods, The Furniture Warehouse, Calon Wen Dairy Products and the NFU Insurance.
In addition to sponsorship of a hymn, Rossiters Funeral Directors, of Tenby, also very kindly printed and produced the hymn sheets.
The church thanks all their sponsors for their generous involvement in this successful evening to link church and town.
