Pembroke Rotary Club has held a second barbeque for Ukrainian refugees. These barbeques were held at Lamphey Park, Lamphey and was made possible due to the kind generosity of Jonathan and Jane Davies who opened their home to accommodate these events.

Ukrainian refugees together with their hosts came from all over the county on Saturday, August 13 to enjoy a good barbecue, cold buffet and drinks from the bar. They were able to meet and socialise in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It provided an opportunity to meet and make contacts, share experiences or simply to chat in their own language.

Live music was provided by singer-songwriter Jim Davies who also compered a ‘open mic’ session. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the two children’s groups who performed some traditional Ukrainian songs… which had the audience absolutely enthralled.

Jon Davies who organised and hosted the barbeque said: “It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to host the barbeques, which were so greatly enjoyed by our Ukrainian friends. Pembroke Rotary Club is committed to supporting Ukraine and we hope these two events have helped to strengthen our local community”.

Pembroke Rotary Club would particularly like to thank Jon and Jane for their considerable efforts in hosting these events and also thanks to Darren Gilbert from Pembrokeshire County Council and Lee Hind from PAVS whose enthusiastic support made these events possible.
