Benches along Tenby’s South Parade could be shuffled around due to them being constantly covered in pigeon mess.
Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas recently asked for a ‘revamp’ of some of Tenby’s public seating areas, explaining that some of the resort’s gardens contained ‘unused seating’ that was in very good condition, while other more used gardens had seating that was in a ‘terrible’ condition.
She also mentioned that there had been complaints about the benches along the South Parade from people who would like to sit there, but couldn’t because of the pigeon mess.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Thomas raised the matter again, and said that people had come to her suggesting that even by moving the seats forward a few inches, it could stop the pigeons from targeting them from the town walls.
“Maybe we could look into this, as I don’t think we’re ever going to get rid of the pigeons!” she remarked.
The Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, said that it seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea, and asked for the appropriate county council officer to be contacted to see if it could be achieved.
