Thursday evening found eight people having a load of fun in the kitchen of the Old Chapel, Lower Frog Street, Tenby.
The six-week course kicked off with that old kitchen cupboard stalwart: pasta. Tomato sauce and white sauce – the classic bases of many a dish – were demonstrated, then tackled by the learners. Tuna, corn, cheese, parsley, chilli and garlic were variously added to produce a saucy mix, that when combined with pasta, provided a tasty take-home meal for the troops. The lesson included basic knife skills, cooking times and portion guidelines, indispensable to the confidence and success achieved by the learner-cooks.
The session was really good fun and we’re all looking forward to the next one. Scratch Cooking, including ingredients, is free and learner-cooks are provided with recipes they can try out at home.
