Scooterists who will be in Tenby over the May bank holiday weekend have indicated that they would like to pat tribute to those fallen in war as part of any VE 75th anniversary commemorations the town holds.
The BSRA Welsh National Scooter Rally has once again been organised to take place in the seaside resort from May 8 to 10 and the organisers of the Scooter Rally have indicated to the town council - who are looking for ideas from the public how to mark VE Day, that they wish to embrace the occasion too, and commemorate it with a special tribute as part of a ride out over the weekend where they could carry poppies to represent each of the fallen from Tenby.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk Andrew Davies told members that the Royal British Legion had also been in touch and were looking to hold a small gathering at the War Memorial at 3 pm on, Friday, May 8.
“A number of other ideas have come forward, with former Mayor and town councillor, Mrs. Caroline Thomas suggesting a nice idea of bringing memories of war from the people of Tenby, where locals could gather to hear readings,” Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his colleagues.
“If the townspeople come forward with their memories written down then we could possibly organise an event around this at a venue in the town.” he added.
