A mural featuring Saundersfoot’s rich industrial heritage has put the finishing touches to the beachfront development at nearby Coppet Hall.

The beach was once a major centre for coal exporting and artist Dorian Spencer Davies has created a magnificent miscellenary of mining memories in his superb five-panel mural in the Coppet Hall Beach Centre.

The award-winning development, which features the acclaimed Coast restaurant and regeneration of the beach-side car park, has been created by Hean Castle Estate.

“We felt that some artwork to interpret the area’s local history would be very appropriate, and so sought applications from artists for a commission,” explained Hean Castle Estate trustee David Lewis.

“We had a huge response from around 30 artists as far afield as Holland, and were very pleased to choose Dorian Spencer Davies to carry out the work.

“His artwork, particularly of Tenby, is very well-known locally, and we love his style of work which we are sure is going to have great appeal to the younger generation and may inspire people to further explore Saundersfoot’s industrial history.”
