Presentations for Saundersfoot in Bloom’s best gardens were recently held at St. Brides Hotel, by kind permission of Mr. Andrew Evans. This year, keen gardeners were allowed to enter more than one class, this was to encourage more entrants.
The judges were Duncan Hilling, Alwen James and Bryan Harries.
The prizes were presented by chairman of the community council, Clr. Anthony Mattick, and he congratulated Saundersfoot in Bloom for making the village attractive.
In the private house section, the winner of the best garden visible from the road was Mr. John Archer, 11 Bevelin Hall; 2. Mrs. Anne Wright, 64 Scandinavia Heights.
Best forecourt without garden: 1. Mrs. Raydene Deakin, Alray, The Ridgeway; 2. Mrs. Tessa Pearson, Valley Farm.
Best display window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets: 1. Mrs. Michelle Evans, 22 Castle View; 2. Raydene Deakin.
Best senior citizens garden: 1. Raydene Deakin; 2. Ann Wright.
Best garden not visible from the road: 1. Mr. Phillip Brace, 42 Sandyhill Park; 2. Mrs. Diane Jones, Ardwyn, Wogan Terrace.
Best vegetable garden: Mrs. Lynne Reyed, Greenfolds, Westfield Road.
Business section -
Best garden: Old Chemist Inn.
Best display window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets: 1. Sunnyvale Holiday Park, Valley Road; 2. Leys Caravan Park, Narberth Road.
Best overall commercial property: Sunnyvale Holiday Park.
The next event for Saundersfoot in Bloom is the flower festival to be held at St. Issell’s Church on Tuesday, August 15-19, with a Songs of Praise to end the festival at St. Issell’s Church on Sunday, August 20, at 5 pm.
