CONGRATULATIONS to Saundersfoot couple Rolfe and Carol John, who tomorrow (Saturday) celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Married at St. Teilo’s Church in Cardiff on October 29, 1966, the couple met at a nightclub in the capital, with both having a keen interest in dancing at the time.
“We both always used to love dancing, and this is how we met in Cardiff,” explained Carol, with the painting seen behind the couple in the photograph being an anniversary gift and a lovely reminder of the Argentine tango, one of their favourites.
Rolfe who was born in Railway Street (now The Strand in Saundersfoot), and Carol, a native of Cardiff, who was brought up in Stackpole, have two children together, son Mark, who lives in Brisbane, Australia, and daughter Emma, who lives in Cardiff.
A past president of Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions Club, and current president of Saundersfoot Sailing Club, Rolfe laughed that the key to 50 years of marriage is to “never go to sleep without saying sorry!” and to remain best of friends.
Amongst Carol’s hobbies, are baking, reading and gardening, while Rolfe, enjoys DIY, reading and sailing.
The couple enjoy caravan touring together, and spending time with their Golden Labrador Megan, who they can often be seen on Saundersfoot’s beaches with, mixing with the local dog walking community.
