At a time when journeying away from home has become harder to undertake during lockdown, residents of a care home in Saunderfsoot have enjoyed a fabulous, glamorous ‘virtual’ trip, giving them a full on cruise experience without the travelling
At the start of the Covid 19 pandemic it was discussed by management at Pencoed Care Home situated in Wooden, near Saundersfoot, what they could do for residents as they were unable to see their loved ones.
Registered manager Annie Escott and deputy manager Shani Escott decided that a ‘virtual cruise’ would be a brilliant idea to lift spirits of those residing at the home, so as the weeks went on, plans were put together.
“The cruise took place last weekend and it was fabulous for all!” said Shani.
“We decorated our home as the top deck of the ship, with our residents choosing ball gowns to enjoy their evening meal.
“They even had a real like casino experience and enjoyed cocktails at the bar!
“I can say from the bottom of my heart after helping with the cruise I went home very happy and contented knowing our wonderful team had provided such a lovely day for our residents, which touched their emotions and enhanced their wellbeing,” added Shani.
