With 98 per cent of Brits likely to head to the coast for their holidays this year, we really do love to be beside the sea!

A newly launched user-friendly ‘Beach Index’ tool by holidaycottages.co.uk - to help locals and visitors to seek out the beaches with the best facilities in 2021 has revealed that Saundersfoot Beach is amongst the UK’s best beaches.

In light of our love of the coast, holidaycottages.co.uk created the beach index to help locals and visitors to find the best beaches across the UK to meet their needs.

The tool allows users to search by county or beach, and filter by various criteria including: the availability of parking, toilets, lifeguards, cafes, water quality, accessibility, water sports available and whether the beach is dog-friendly.

The index was created by collating data on over 400 beaches across England, Scotland and Wales, and ranking them on each of the individual factors listed above. The research then revealed the best overall beaches across the UK, as well as in specific regions.

Taking the crown of the UK’s best beach is Saltburn Beach in Yorkshire due to an array of facilities and Blue Flag water quality. Joining Saundersfoot and Saltburn in the top ten are - Fistral Beach, Cornwall; Hemsby Beach, Norfolk; Tankerton Beach, Kent; Dovercourt Bay, Essex; Camber Sands Beach, East Sussex; Alum Chine Beach, Dorset; Perranporth Beach, Cornwall; as well as Tresaith Beach in Ceredigion.
