Pembroke Rugby Club chairman, Darrell Willington, kindly organised one of his ever popular club quiz nights for the launch of Pembroke Guild’s 10th Annual RNLI Quiz entitled ‘Clothes Past & Present’ (writes Daphne Bush).
Guild member Mrs. Cynthia Field devised the quiz idea now in its 10th year, sponsoring it herself initially. For the past seven years, the Guild are most grateful for sponsorship from Pembroke Power Station.
The evening was very well attended and Darrell was a very entertaining quizmaster - here’s to another RNLI Quiz launch at Pembroke RFC, please Darrell!
Including superb raffle prize donations, the evening raised £238 for the RNLI. This could contribute to the cost of a crew helmet at £263, a thermal undergarment at £225, waterproof trousers at £249, six pairs of boots, 12 pairs of gloves and much more. In fact, all money raised for this free 24/7 rescue service enables the service to continue.
Quiz sheets will be available from now until September 30, from any Guild member, Mott’s butchers, the Corn Store, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock libraries or our souvenir stall in the Town Hall and at local events.
On behalf of the RNLI, Pembroke Ladies Guild, once again, thank you all for your continued support of our fundraising.
Our next event will be our Annual Summer Picnic on Sunday, July 14, at the beautiful Upton Castle, near Cosheston, by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. S. Barlow.
Tickets are £10, including a very welcome glass of Pimms - from Daphne on 01646 681437 or Jennie on 01834 812125.
Bring your picnics, rugs, chairs and gazebos and relax to the music of ‘Simon and Halfuncle’. The event starts at 12.30 and finishes at 3.30 pm.
