HUNDREDS of young achievers from across the UK had a date in the prestigious setting of St. James's Palace last week, including Jack Oakley from Tenby.
Jack attended Greenhill School where he achieved his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. He travelled to London to receive his certificate from Gold Award holder HRH the Earl of Wessex.
He is the son of Caroline and Mark Oakley, of Upper Hill Park, Tenby, and is now at Cardiff University studying Mechanical Engineering.
The Gold Award Presentation (GAP) was a celebration and recognition of Jack's achievements in completing his Gold DofE programme. The GAP is a unique event and a fitting culmination to mark the hard work, determination and perseverance required.
CONGRATULATIONS also to Tom Horton, who was presented with his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St. James's Palace.
Tom acheived his bronze and silver awards while at Greenhill School, Tenby, and went on to acheive the gold award while studying for his A levels at Pembrokeshire College.
He is presently at Manchester Met University as an undergraduate of outdoor studies and is currently taking his ML and SPA assessments.
Bethan Eynon, of Templeton, is another who collected her gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St. James' Palace in London last month.
Bethan completed her award whilst in the sixth form at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, Whitland, and is currently reading English at Kings College, London.
