A closer look at ‘County Farms’ will be carried out by the council in order to get a “better financial return.”

A review of County Farms was carried out in 2016 and councillors have agreed that the situation be revisited to ensure conclusions and policy from that time are “still valid.”

On Monday, July 2, cabinet members voted in favour of telling the policy and pre-decision overview and scrutiny committee that it be “recommended to undertake a review of the County Farm Estate Policy in order to make recommendations regarding its validity and whether new Policy aims are required.”

The County Farms net income budget for 2018-19 is £313,000 a report to cabinet states.

Cabinet member for finance, Clr. Bob Kilmister said: “I’m of the view that the policy is no longer valid. The financial return on our investment is far too low.

“Detailed work is needed here and all kinds of options on the table and they need to be explored in detail.

“We’ve got to look to get a better financial return then we are.”
