Sir,
Despite the publicity and debate surrounding the Tenby Cottage Hospital, it seems many people are still unaware of the year-round nurse-led walk-in service being provided at the facility on Gas Lane in Tenby.
The hospital currently provides (in addition to the existing outpatients clinics) treatment for urgent minor illness and minor injuries. Amongst the ailments that can be treated are earache, throat infections, skin complaints, (including rashes and sunburn), minor muscular-skeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries, insect bites, stings, minor eye complaints and irritations requiring washouts and irrigation and the removal of foreign bodies.
Service is provided from Monday to Friday (including Bank Holidays) from 10 am until 5 pm, with the last patient being discharged by 6 pm.
Accident and Emergency services will continue to be delivered at Withybush Hospital at Haverfordwest.
So it is worth noting that much of the campaigning has shown positive results.
These services will be monitored by their footfall, so it is important that patients choose wisely when accessing local Hywel Dda services and remember that many minor conditions can once again be treated by the team at Tenby Cottage Hospital.
