Narberth’s ‘rainbow fairy’ who set about spreading smiles throughout the community at the start of the lockdown with her colourful creations reached a milestone fundraising mark last week.
What started out as a way to bring some positivity to the community during the pandemic for artist Diana Brook by painting rainbows on windows or glass doors to symbolise solidarity with health workers, has now raised over £4,000 for Leukaemia UK - a charity very close to her heart as her brother has the disease.
The designs of Diana who also teaches art at Redhill School have popped up all over the town in the past few weeks, on windows, doors, and on premises such as the town’s police station and post depot.
She also joined forces with a Pembrokeshire graffiti artist to produce a stunning mural on Narberth’s old school building which has gone onto become the backdrop for many a photo in the community for those wishing to spread the message of kindness.
After drawing her first rainbow on her Heddfan studio window in St James Street at the start of April, Diana has since travelled from place to place in the locality on her bicycle with her coloured acrylic pens.
Diana who has been hailed a ‘community champion’ by residents, has her own Facebook page the ‘Rainbow Fairy’ after the nickname she was given.
‘Takeaway’ rainbow signs are appearing all over the country and even gone to Pennsylvania, along with rainbow mugs that have been made.
Even the ‘Welcome to Narberth’ sign has one of her rainbow signatures on it, along with local’s vehicles, whilst also more recently, one AA van has also donned the rainbow!
