Local 18-year-old girl, Rachelle Vickery, who is a first year student at Loughborough University, has taken on a team challenge to raise money for Epilepsy Society.

A close friend of hers has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and she wants to help make a difference. Forty students from Loughborough University have signed up for the challenge and collectively they aim to raise in excess of £120,000.

Epilepsy Society is an organisation that does so much outstanding work providing support for people affected by Epilepsy, whilst funding vital scientific research.

Next summer’s challenge will see her trekking through the Peruvian Andes. This challenge is both physically and mentally testing; it will be a tough 85km trek over seven days, with a mixture of terrain, and climbing well over 15,000 feet.

Rachelle has a personal target to raise of £3,000 - all of which will go directly to the charity. There are various fundraising activities being planned, including a Christmas Coffee Morning and Festive Cake Sale on Saturday December 19, 10 am - 12 noon, at St. Johns Church Hall, Warren Street, Tenby. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a hot drink and mince pie and browse the beautiful selection of tempting treats on offer, including Christmas cakes, chocolate brownies, festive cupcakes and cookies.

A quiz night and raffle are also being held at Tenby Rugby Club on Tuesday, December 29, at 7 pm.

If you would like to sponsor Rachelle, you can make a donation via her JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/Rachelle-Vickery or you can contact her on 01834 843182. Any support will be greatly appreciated.
