As chairman of Saundersfoot Community Council, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the ‘Clean for the Queen’ project on Saturday. It was great to see so many volunteers who really love our village turn up to give it a spring clean to celebrate Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.

A special thank you must go to the young family who joined the cleaning party on the beach, with their two young children eager to help. Our clerk, Virginia, organised everything to run like clockwork once again and the Regency Hall reception area was put to good use as a base and a welcome retreat for tea and scones provided by Clr. Tessa Pearson.

A total of 31 special edition purple bags were soon filled from various locations around the village, with litter picking equipment kindly provided by the Pembrokeshire County Council area maintenance environment department. The Saundersfoot Harbour team provided logistical support to collect and transport the full bags and PCC were on hand to take them away.

In a society which is quick to say ‘they should do something,’ I was proud to see that Saundersfoot once again was quick to say ‘we will do something.’
