A local councillor has suggested that local schools and community groups could contribute to commemorations in Tenby to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall said that he was looking for ideas from the community that could add to the projects already planned, which includes a project to introduce names of fallen soldiers from Tenby missing off the town’s cenotaph, to coincide with the ‘Battle’s End’ tribute to take place on November 11.

Former Mayor of Tenby, John Griffiths has undertaken a wealth of research and hard work into obtaining a list of names to be introduced to the Tenby war memorial, working with Murray John, to finalise a list of names.

“It’s such a momentous occasion that perhaps we could look to put something up as a backdrop by the War Memorial where visual contributions from say local schools and organisations could be displayed, so I’m putting the idea out there and welcome suggestions,” said Clr. Blackhall.

Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane suggested that said projects could be displayed by being projected onto a screen behind the War Memorial gardens.
