Sitting or standing? Councillors can choose how to address full council in future.

Members of the corporate governance committee agreed to make it clearer in the council constitution that standing was optional.

“The wording we have is a bit ambidextrous, why can’t we just make it optional,” said Clr. Mike Stoddart on Monday (July 9).

The Pembrokeshire County Council chamber’s ‘omin-directional’ microphones work better the closer the speak is to them and this was one of the reasons why sitting may by preferred.

There was already provision for those unable to stand to address cabinet in the constitution wording.
