A recent meeting looking at potential changes at Tenby harbour could see the introduction of increased storage at the facility and improvements to the sluice.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his colleagues that he had attended the meeting between the Tenby Harbour Users Association and representatives of Pembrokeshire County Council.
Clr. Blackhall explained that PCC had been awarded grant funding from the Welsh Assembly Government to complete a feasibility study of both the groundworks and business case for development of the harbour’s North Walk and sluice.
Some of the proposed developments for allocation within the study, include - increased dinghy/other storage along the North Walk; beach huts along a retaining wall; increased and direct access from above North Walk; a cill on the sluice to retain a few feet of water at all stages of tide, along with a working storm gate.
Decking over part of the sluice using a Meccano-like structure affixed to the bedrock, not the sluice walls, had also been discussed, giving increased storage at the current surrounding height.
“There were a number of ideas put forward, and the scoping and feasibility study will determine how many of them are affordable,” Clr. Blackhall told his fellow councillors, with the final proposals likely to be put forward by the end of March.
