Bids for 12 projects – totalling £271,000 – will be decided by the sustainable development fund committee this week.

However, it is unlikely all will be successful with the funding pot standing at £96,000.

A report to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park meeting on Wednesday, January 20 recommends considering part funding some of the projects to “support a wider number of projects across the National Park.”

Two projects were deferred from November’s meeting, and ten are new, with requests for funding ranging from £4,500 to £37,568.

The applications to be decided are made by - Newport Area Environment Group, Cwm Arian Renewable Ltd, Herbrandston Sports and Recreation Association, South Ridgeway Community Association, RSPB, Clwb Rygbi Crymych Cyf, Neuadd Gymuned Bwlchygroes, Haverhub, Eco Dewi, Clynfyw CIC, Springboard Learning Pembrokeshire, and Ffynnone Community Resilience in North Pembrokeshire.

The sustainable development support is for projects contributing towards a reduction in carbon and help respond to the climate emergency with a scoring criteria set by the committee last year that includes the quality of the application, location, match funding offered and the type of organisation applying.

Of the 12 applications, three are recommended for part funding, three for approval subject to available funding, five for rejection and one for deferment to April’s committee.

The applications are discussed in private by the committee.
