A popular gymnastics club has had its new home made official with retrospective planning permission from Pembrokeshire County Council.

Milford Haven Gymnastics Club moved to its premises at Thornton Industrial Estate last year and a change of use application came to planning committee on Tuesday (February 12).

It was recommended for approval and support was given by local member Clr. Stanley Hudson.

He said that he “heartily agreed” with the application, adding that Milford Haven could not afford to lose such a resource for young people.

Clr. Hudson said around 200 people are involved with the club, aged from four to 18 with 12 youngsters currently in the Welsh squad.

“They are in a safe environment, having fun with friends at the same time as picking up life skills,” he added.

As well as training for young people the club is now expanding to include pilates and yoga for older people, improving their health and well-being.

There was also praise from Clr. Stephen Joseph who said: “This club is a credit toMilford Haven, actually it’s a credit to Pembrokeshire.”

The committee voted unanimously in favour of the application.
