Pembrokeshire County Council will start digging six trial pits at the Brynhir site in Tenby from Monday to test ‘porosity’ of the ground.
The work is required to inform the design strategy for surface water draining which will be required for the outline planning application for a development of 168 homes at the site.
It was agreed by cabinet last year that the housing scheme would be pushed forward by PCC after it ‘bought’ its own land using the housing revenue account (HRA).
Councillors in Tenby have been told that an outline application for the housing development at Brynhir is likely to be submitted to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park by the end of June.
The trial holes will be fully reinstated on completion of the work which is expected to take two days.
