Councillors in Tenby who recently reiterated their frustration at not being updated on the Brynhir development, have received correspondence from the county council’s director of development on the matter, stating that negotiations are still taking place with the shortlisted developer.

Discussions where members of the town council were due to meet with representatives from Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and prospective developers, were recently put on hold and have yet to be rescheduled.

Town councillors said they had become ‘frustrated’ with the lack of news coming from the county council on the Brynhir development, and wrote directly to the authority’s chief executive, Ian Westley, to let him know that they were concerned there had been no update.

At Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, members received a response from PCC’s director of development, Dr Steven Jones.

“I have made some enquiries and the situation remains unchanged; the officers concerned are still in negotiations with the shortlisted developer and our agent,” he explained.

“As you can appreciate, as this is a substantial allocated site within the National Park’s Local Development Plan, it is likely to take a significant amount of time to bring it forward to development stage due to the detailed level required for the ongoing negotiations, surveys required and the planning process.

“Indeed, until we have agreed, in principle, the terms and conditions relating to the development, we are unable to make a formal decision selecting the developer as the preferred party, which is why we are currently unable to confirm the identity of the developer. However, I can confirm that the officers will keep the town council informed on the disposal of the site,” added Dr. Jones.
