Local councillors have reiterated the importance of council officials ensuring that the Brynhir development in Tenby provides ‘local housing for local people’.
An outline application was put forward by Pembrokeshire County Council earlier this year for the land at Brynhir, with all matters reserved for 102 affordable residential units, eight shared ownership residential units and 34 open market residential units together with associated access, drainage and landscaping.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his colleagues that now would be a good time to touch base again with council officers on the matter,
“Clearly PCC are doing a lot of work to keep the scheme moving forward, but now would be a good time to meet with the cabinet member for housing and senior officers, before the final full application is submitted, so we can get some clarity on the ‘local policy’ so that the people of Tenby know that it is imperative that if the development goes ahead it has to be local housing for local people,” he remarked.
“There have been some concerns raised about the advice given out by the housing officer on this criteria and the guidance given out to members of the public, so we need to get clarity on what advice is being given out, and be absolutely clear on our views before the final application is submitted, or we will withdraw our consent as a town council,” added Clr. Blackhall who said that realistically, the earliest a meeting could be held now would be in January.
