The Chamber of Trade and Tourism has suggested an orange as a possible mascot linked to a possible ‘Orange Festival.’ The town council has welcomed ideas from groups and individuals. So to reflect this debate about choosing a symbol for Tenby as a focus for marketing and events, the Mayor donned full regalia and played his part in this more unusual photo opportunity!
Wales’ past has no shortage of pirates, but Tenby was the first UK port to which oranges were brought, hence interest in them as a unique piece of history for Tenby and the UK.
The photographers and Pirate John went on to other period ‘piratical’ locations, including briefly Sun Alley and the harbour. However, the wet evening saw most of the rest of the shoot take place in two Georgian Tenby houses.
Many thanks to the Mayor for playing his part in re-capturing images of the past and to John Price for his visual versatility and his wife Debbie for being his Moll.
