MATTERS ARISING

Howard Williams reported that the base for the cannon at the car park by the Cleddau Bridge had now been repaired. There appeared to be a few minor cosmetic details to finish off, but the majority of the work was now completed.

Maureen Colgan and Christine John had looked into a voucher for the Golf Club for a meal, but had found that the time food was available was very limited. It had therefore been decided to approach the shop as they had last year.

Tony Wilcox, Christine John and Maureen Colgan would drive around the area to make a decision as to the winners of the Christmas lights on the next Wednesday.

Parking in High Street: This was continuing to be an issue. The contractor working in the Old Caledonian Inn was still parking in the same position which was obscuring the junction. The police officers present advised that it was a council issue, but they would approach the contractor and ask him to move his vehicle. Tony Wilcox advised that he would also take the matter up with the appropriate department in the council.

Treowen Road: It was confirmed the double yellow lines were soon to be extended, although there was no date at present.

Bin collections: There was to be a public consultation. The more residents to return them the better. The matter would be put before a full council meeting, so residents should take matters up with their councillor.

Council Tax increase: There was now a proposal to raise the Council Tax by 12 per cent in the coming financial year.

High Street: Pam Thomas advised that the pavement in High Street had now been inspected and it had been confirmed the drainage issue would be addressed.

aNY OTHER BUSINESS

Property in North Street: A petition was being raised in relation to the number of cats and dogs currently being kept at a property in North Street. It was believed that up to 16 cats and two dogs were in the property. Environmental Health had been called, but there were no real guidelines or regulations as to the maximum number of cats a person could keep.

Proposed one-way system at North Road/Bufferland Terrace: There was a proposal to make North Road and Bufferland Terrace a one-way street. Tony Wilcox had spoken with a number of residents with mixed responses. The issue was discussed by all present and Howard Williams stated that all residents affected by this proposal should be consulted, not just the residents of Bufferland Terrace and North Street.

The next meeting would be held at the Alma Inn on Tuesday, January 9, at 7.30 pm.
