Paul Davies MS has written to the Chief Executive of Barclays bank, Mr Vim Maru, urging the bank to reopen branches in the local area, with a particular focus on Haverfordwest and Aberystwyth, then Tenby and Cardigan.

Mr Davies contacted the Chief Executive following reports that Barclays is considering reopening some high street branches and strengthening its presence within local communities.

Mr Davies said:

“It’s extremely disappointing that Barclays Bank currently has no branches in either Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion. However, I welcome the bank’s recent announcement and have written to the Chief Executive.

“Access to face-to-face banking services remains vital for many residents, businesses and community organisations, and I hope the bank will give serious consideration to reopening the high street branches in West Wales.”
