Representing the great tradition of male choirs in Wales, Tenby Male Choir has been a permanent feature in the Arts Festival calendar each year and again proved to be a great success when they held their concert in St Mary’s Church last Thursday (September 26) in front of a packed audience.

Singing songs made famous by Matt Munroe ‘Portrait of My Love’ and the Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah they thrilled the large audience with a mixture of songs taken from musicals and church music plus those in honour of those employed in the mining industry.

The solo spot was taken by 16-year-old Carys Underwood (pictured below) playing the marimba. Her first piece by Vivaldi was the Presto from Carcertina in A minor, but she followed this up with a spell binding section taken from a Monograph IV by Richard Gipson.

In the second section the visitors were delighted to hear ‘You Raise Me Up’ and loved ‘Calm is The Sea’ now a firm favourite for those who appreciate the beautiful singing of the choir. The audience took part enthusiastically when ‘My Grandfather’s Clock’ came along and really enjoyed this number which always closes the choir’s second section.
