Roll up! Roll Up!! Roll Up - for the ‘Annual Auction’ at Oriel Q Gallery in Narberth, which will be held online from today (Friday, October 23) until November 23.
Despite Lockdown restrictions the Gallery is going to celebrate Autumn and Christmas with widely sourced shows of artistic defiance in these dark days.
Narberth’s Oriel Q Gallery plays a major part in promoting visual art in central Pembrokeshire and across the much wider community. Somehow, in times like these, Art is needed more and takes on a greater importance, feeding the soul.
The Gallery is run by a team of volunteers, under the management of Harriet Addyman who are dedicated to keeping the Gallery alive within the community.
Oriel Q relies upon income from the annual £20 membership fees and from fundraising to do this. The funds raised pay the rent, rates and general maintenance of the gallery; and main funds over the many years have come from its Annual Auction which was held on Carnival weekend.
This year had to be different, with the Gallery moving to 11 Market Street late this summer into a lovely ground-floor space , and with limited space for an onsite auction, and with Covid precautions , the auction will now be online, and can be seen at: https://jumblebee.co.uk/orielqgalleryauction
You can place your bids from October 23, and it closes on Saturday, November 23 at 2 pm.
As much work as possible will be on show at the Gallery, with a wonderful selection of work, some by world-famous artists like - Ana Maria Pacheco, Peter Paul Piech, and Arnold Lowrey, Geoff Yeomans, Elizabeth Haines, Andrea Kelland, some beautiful ceramics by Joe Frowen, to name just a few.
Hot on the heels of the Auction, comes the Winter Open Show, supporting local artists and Oriel Q members. The Gallery will be closed for around two weeks in January, but from February on there will be an amazing line-up of exhibitions for 2021.
