Out this week - Seaglass is the new book by Eloise Williams.
The book aimed at children aged nine to 12 - is a chilling contemporary ghost story from the award-winning author of Gaslight.
Lark struggles when her family and their friends go on holiday in a lonely caravan site on the Pembrokeshire coast for the autumn half term.
Her mother is ill, her little sister has stopped speaking and she has fallen out with her best friend. Is a girl in a green dress following her in the fog? Or is her sister playing tricks on her? When a local woman tells her ‘the girl’ comes to take sisters, Lark finds herself fighting to save her family.
The ghost and family storylines are cleverly woven together to address themes of identity and prejudice in a chilling and entertaining contemporary ghost story from the award-winning author of Gaslight, winner of the Wales Arts Review Young People’s Book of the Year 2017.
Author Eloise Williams was born in Cardiff and grew up in Llantrisant, and now lives in Saundersfoot, very close to the beach where she walks her dog Watson Jones and collects sea glass with her artist husband Guy Manning.
She worked in the theatre in various odd jobs before going on to study Drama at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Guildford School of Acting.
After working for over ten years as an actor, she decided to change path a little and take a Masters in Creative Writing at Swansea University.
Eloise is the author of ‘Elen’s Island’ (2015) and ‘Gaslight’ (2017), which was shortlisted for the Tir na n-Og Awards 2018.
‘Seaglass’ was launched at the Cardiff Book Festival last Saturday.
