Pentlepoir couple, Ron and Kay Hovell, have been celebrating after their son-in-law was appointed an MBE in the New Year Honours List.

Squadron leader Michael George Oxford QCVS has seen service in every theatre of operations since the Falklands, including both Gulf Wars and Ireland on three occasions.

He started his career in the RAF as a flight engineer, retrained as a navigator, then went to officers training college and trained as a pilot, working his way through the ranks.
