A former Naval club in Pembroke Dock has a new lease of life as a public house.
Neil Armstrong and Jennifer Rogers will run the Market Tavern on Pembroke Street after being granted a new premises licence.
Mr. Armstrong had been the previous licencee of the Pembroke Dock Naval Club, which closed last summer.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing sub-committee heard at its meeting on Thursday, July 4 there had been objections received about noise from music, karaoke and people smoking outside the pub.
Mr. Armstrong outline the ways he was mitigating these concerns including putting in false ceilings and walls with acoustic soundboards.
There will be no smoking permitted at the front of the pub, with a shelter being built at the back, adding that he had halved the garden and was in negotiations to put parking spaces at the back.
“We’ve done everything reasonably practicable to address these objections,” said Mr. Armstrong.
Music will be permitted until 11 pm and no music in the beer garden after 9.30pm.
The committee were told that there are 16 CCTV cameras in the premises including covering the beer garden and the future parking area.
There had been no objections from statutory bodies including Dyfed-Powys Police.
The application promotes licensing objectives and will be granted, chairman of the committee Clr. Tim Evans said.
