‘More than the Walls’ - a new film to promote the work of the Pembroke Town Walls Trust was premiered at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s Archaeology Day last Saturday.

The film was made for the Trust by Tanyard Youth Project’s Postcards and Podcasts programme, based on a script written and provided by the Trust.

Elizabeth Gossage, Chair of the Pembroke Town Walls Trustees, was there to answer questions and to explain that the film had been made to promote the work of the Trust and their current plans to develop a long-term management plan.

Throughout the past year or so, many of you have donated to the ‘Pledge a Stone’ fundraising campaign. Once again, huge thanks goes to those (recognised on the Trust website) who have donated. At just £5 per stone, in a few months over £1,000 was donated which helped towards the costs of the work to restore two of the walls of the Civil War gun platform on the Mill Pond Walk.

More funding is still needed to restore the west wall and you can still donate online, at the website, or by contacting Daphne Bush by email or telephone at: [email protected] or 01646 681437.

An ideal Christmas gift for friends locally or for those living away from their hometown.

“Whilst writing, on behalf of the Trustees of Pembroke Town Walls Trust and it’s members, we should like to thank everyone in the community for your support throughout the year,” said Daphne.

“In the late Spring and Summer of 2022 we hope to be able plan fundraising events that we can all enjoy. News of those will be published in this paper.

“Grateful thanks also, to Paul Evans, Chief Reporter and staff at the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Observer for their assistance throughout the year.”
