Neil Duffy, of Pembrokeshire Tyres, Tenby, was looking forward to a quiet winter to help him relax and concentrate on his successful developing business, but this was all to change when his expertise was called upon to renovate an old helicopter for use by Wales Air Ambulance to promote the charity and raise the awareness of the community of the importance of having such a facility in the area.
He immediately took up the challenge and set about finding sponsors to help with the financing of the materials required and he found them in the locality.
The funding came from Catrin Richards, of Lewis and Lewis Solicitors, Matthew Evans, of the Long Course Weekend, Chris Brace, of N. D. Toy, and Richard Graham, of Big Brums.
After rubbing down the body work and giving the whole machine a facelift, he resprayed to a very high standard making it look like new and finished off the project by bringing in Chris Godding, of Tredeml Print, to supply and fit the art work on the helicopter.
The newly-renovated flying machine will be used at fundraising events throughout Wales with its first event being at Haverfordwest Fun Day on Easter Monday when children were able to sit in the machine and let their imaginations take them anywhere they want to be.
Huge thanks to all concerned, especially those in the picture, Neil Duffy and Chris Godding seen with Tony Key, Pembrokeshire coordinator for WAA.
