A Narberth postman is taking on a number of milestone birthday challenges to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

To mark his 40th birthday in April, Cefin Vaughan has decided to challenge himself by completing 12 events in less than 12 months.

The former Crymych RFC player who hails from Boncath and now lives in St. Clears, has called it the ‘12-12-40’ challenge.

Cefin will attempt to complete nine half marathons, after recently taking on the Llanelli half marathon, with events in - Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Cardiff, Merthyr, Anglesey, Port Talbot, Severn Bridge, and the Long Course in Tenby in the pipeline.

He will also take on the Long Course’s 112-mile cycling event and the 100-mile Carten (Cardiff to Tenby) challenge, as well as the Parc Margam duathlon.

“I will do this to raise money for a charity that is very close to my and my family’s heart - Arthritis Research UK,” said Cefin who has seen over £1,000 donated to his sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cefin-vaughan already.
