Like many museums across the country, Narberth is preparing to mark the 100th anniversary of WWI.

Its season of commemoration begins on November 11.

After the wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Market Square, all the organisations involved and members of the public are invited to a free preview of the museum's exhibition, 'Letters from the Front.'

The exhibition highlights the museum's collection of letters written by local soldiers and their families. The stories behind the letters is the subject of ongoing research by volunteers at the museum and is made possible by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Admission to the museum will be free all that day including, at 6.30, a short performance by Narberth Youth Theatre evoking the journey of a soldier. This will be a taster for an extended performance which will be taking place in the spring. The museum is delighted with this collaboration which brings home the effects of war on young soldiers wherever and whenever they might be involved.

At 7.30 pm, Terry John will continue his series of talks with an examination of WWI poetry. He will be looking in particular at local poet, Colwyn Phillips. Tickets for this talk are £4.50 and are available from the museum.
