As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), emergency services were dealing with a gas leak in Narberth.
Shortly after 11.30 am, the town's fire crew received a call to a property in Jesse Road where workmen were reported to have drilled through a gas pipe.
Police and Transco engineers attended and the road was closed.
Neighbouring properties were reported to have been evacuated, while the nearby primary school was not fully operational because of an inset day.
"Fortunately, pupils were not in attendance and staff left early after notification of the gas leak," said Len Mullins, of Pembrokeshire County Council.
Meanwhile earlier in the week, pupils at another Pembrokeshire primary school were evacuated following a suspected gas leak.
Lessons at Sageston School were interrupted shortly after 10.30 am on Monday when odours were smelt in the computer room situated next door to the boiler room.
The school's 90 pupils were evacuated by teaching staff, first to the playground and then to the grounds of a nearby engineering works, while workmen from British Gas and Pembrokeshire County Council investigated, the pupils were moved to the village hall.
Pupils were allowed to return to the school in time for lunch when the workmen gave the all-clear.
No gas leak was detected. The smell is thought to have been vapours emanating from the boiler room.
