Narberth Cricket Club recently held its annual presentation at the rugby club. This year, the club combined both the junior and senior presentations so the whole club could get together and reflect on what had been a superb campaign.
Chairman Huw Simpkins began the proceedings by welcoming and thanking all attendees, players, parents and supporters. A big thank you went out to the club's sponsors, Young Bros, main sponsors, Ian and Janet at G. D. Harries for continuing their junior sponsorship, Andrew Price, Balcony sponsor, and Peter Griffiths, Alexander Partnership Tenby, ground maintenance sponsor.
Medals were then presented to the Under 9s and Under 11s teams. Andrew Williams and Steve Coaker, two of the club's superb junior coaches then proceeded to tell the audience about the highly successful season the Under 13s had had which resulted them in being crowned Pembrokeshire champions.
There were special presentations for individual members of the junior teams, firstly Lewis Hough was awarded the Dicky Parry Junior Trophy for outstanding contribution to both junior and senior cricket in 2013. Sean Coaker was awarded the club's Junior Achievement Trophy by Rowland Hughes and the coveted most improved player to signify his transition into the club's highly competitive first team.
The third team player of the year award went to Liam Phillips, second team player of the year was Owen Richards and the chairman's clubperson of the season went to the highly deserving Mr. Ed Pritchard for his outstanding contribution in assisting with juniors, pitch maintenance and his commitment to playing senior cricket.
There were special hattrick trophies for Nathan Coaker, Mike Williams and Wayne Howells.
This season, there was no fewer than six centuries scored, a fact which the whole club are hugely proud. Framed copies of their achievements were presented to Marc Hughes (2), Richie Adams (2), Kial Keane and Paul Phillips (collected by son, Liam).
The first team skipper then closed by announcing the first team player of the year, which was presented jointly to Marc Hughes and Richie Adams, who enjoyed a massively impressive season opening the batting for the 1st XI, culminating in them both scoring over 550 runs for the season, finishing top of the county averages, both scoring two terrific centuries and celebrating their club record opening partnership of 256 against Lawrenny.
