Pembrokeshire County Councillor for Narberth, Clr. Vic Dennis has provided an update to residents of the town.

Clr. Vic Dennis said he had been self-isolating during the crisis as he has an underlying health condition, but that hasn’t stoped him playing his part in the community through his own messages and Facebook.

“I’m building up an email contact list to distribute information throughout the Narberth, as well as picking up the phone and speaking to residents. The information that I’m getting back is that friends, family and neighbours are generally in contact, supporting and caring for each other,” he said.

Clr. Dennis added that he had put out a request for local volunteers and an offer of support to residents, with the volunteer list now building nicely.

Pembrokeshire County Council has now launched the Community Coordination Hub and the Hub has already started to receive enquiries from people who are self-isolating as a result of COVID-19.

This include people require assistance with tasks such as shopping, prescriptions and pensions, as well as from people who have lost their normal forms of emotional and social contact.

The Hub team have also been able to assist with providing details of local shops and traders who are making deliveries, connecting people to their local community support group/network, signposting to voluntary sector forms of support such as MIND and Age Cymru, and most importantly providing a listening ear.

At present working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00 – 5.00, but these will be reviewed over the coming week(s) to manage demand and provide a timely response.

Any calls or emails that are received by the Contact Centre will be referred through to the Hub.
