The second Messy Church at St. Issell's certainly lived up to its name and was very messy indeed! This was down to the amount of glitter and sequins available for children and adults alike to complete their craft items.
The theme was family and those taking part were invited to decorate models of themselves for display in the schoolroom and some of them did not require names to identify who they were! It was a busy afternoon, full of chatter as people got to know each other, and in the background could be heard the raucous laughter of mainly the adults who were playing Mr. Potato Head Beetle.
A time of worship in the church was led by Rev. Marianne Osborne, where, through story and song, we were taught that we were all part of God's family and what a great God He is to hold us all in His hands.
Hot soup, bread and cake followed in the schoolroom to round off another successful and enjoyable afternoon. Messy Church is for children and adults, and involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. It's primarily for people who don't already belong to another form of church. It's all-age and it's fun!
The next session will be on Sunday, November 23, from 3-5 pm, and a warm welcome is invited to anyone who would like to attend.
