A visit to the monastic community on Caldey Island was one of the first official duties undertaken by the newly appointed Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Tony Brown, last week.

Clr. Brown and his wife Sarah were welcomed into the monastic guesthouse, where they met and spoke with the Abbot, the community and Caldey Island’s directors, before being shown around the monastery and attending a church service.

The Mayor was invited to lunch with the monks in the refectory, and enjoyed spending time on the island in the afternoon.

The visit was greatly enjoyed by both parties, with the Abbot being delighted to maintain links between Caldey and Tenby.
