A Manorbier mum is determined to make a weight loss journey being filmed for ITV count before the summer kicks in.

Mellissa Cromwell has been filming out in Crete at Abaton Island Resort and Spa with other participants taking on the challenge of This Morning’s Inch Loss Island segment.

The mum of four is no stranger to TV as her and husband Harry’s wedding with a difference where they wore yellow wellies for the big day at Tenby’s St. Julian’s Church, back in 2011 due to his occupation as a fisherman, featured on BBC’s Don’t Tell The Bride programme.

Mellissa has been filming with presenter and former X-Factor contestant Fleur East for the feature, and been put through her paces one of the toughest personal trainers in the business Brendan Walkin for her toning up challenge in time for the summer.

She explained to the Observer how she ended up taking part: “I saw the advert for it on ITV’s This Morning and sent an email explaining that I’ve had four children in the last six years - the youngest being three months old and that I would love to get back to my pre-wedding day weight.

“I was a Size 10 back then so obviously after four children very close together I have gained over four stone in the last six years,” she said.

“Thinking I would never get picked for something like this I then received the phone call and had a phone interview. A week later they phoned back and said what are you doing on the 17th of June and I said I have no plans, and they said you have now!!

“We then met at the airport and proceeded to create and the workouts and healthy eating began. To start with we did mountain tracking and tubing off the back of a speedboat. I absolutely hate water and cannot swim very well, so for me this was a big achievement.

In fact, despite her fear of water and being petrified of boats, for their wedding day which featured on the BBC Three fly-on-the-wall hit show, fiancé Harry had other ideas, as tasked with planning the couple’s dream wedding in secret, he booked a fisherman theme and a whelk-trawler for the big day!

Continuing to discuss her Inch Loss training, Mellissa said: “We also went trekking through a canyon and abseiling down waterfalls and jumping off nine metre ledges into deep running water.

“To say I swallowed a lot of water is an understatement - but I absolutely loved it and have probably overcome my fear of deep water and would definitely do it again!

“From now on me and the others taking part are on a healthy eating plan from a nutritionist and have a personal trainer to train us three times a week for the near future.

“Presenter Fleur East is lovely and down to earth and really motivated. The whole crew now feel like family.

“We go to the ITV This Morning studios on July 12 for a live weighing in our swimsuits so I am determined to make this weight loss journey work!” she added.
