Last month several members of local Lions Clubs attended a CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) training course and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator).
The course took place at St John Ambulance HQ in Haverfordwest.
CPR is a life saving technique used in emergency situations such as heart attack. It involves a succession of compressions interspersed with mouth to mouth respiration to maintain circulation of blood to the brain and the heart.
On many occasions it is imperative to use an AED to restart the heart.
The Lions attending the training course were Zone Chairman Ben Pula Manluctao and John Radcliffe from Aberystwyth Lions Club, Derek MacGarvie and Nigel Skipper from Tenby and District Lions Club and David Hurst and Morena Malborg from Gower and Llwchrwr Lions Club.
The Lions members fully appreciate the expert training that was given to them by the Manager of Haverfordwest St John Ambulance, Vicki Jones, ably assisted by St John Cadet Leader Mona Skipper and Cadet Enfys Skipper.
The St John Ambulance are volunteers who freely give up their time to help others.
