A local fundraiser is taking on a gruelling 140 mile cycle ride this month from Bristol to his childhood home in Stackpole, Pembroke in memory of his brother Hugh, who passed away aged 22 from Type 1 Diabetes in 2017.
Jack Mason had originally planned to cycle the ‘Ride London’ event this year but as it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak, he decided to take on a bigger challenge cycling to his family home.
“I have never cycled this far before so am expecting it to be a tough 8 hours on the saddle!” he said.
“Hugh grew up in Pembroke and had worked locally as a barman, so it felt fitting to ride to Pembroke in his memory.”
The cycle ride which will take place at the end of August, will raise funds for Diabetes UK.
The donation page set up on JustGiving has already raised over £1,000 for the cause.
