As it prepares for full time opening from tomorrow (Saturday), Folly Farm has been spreading good cheer amongst its community with donations to two local causes.

First up was Begelly and Kilgetty Community Association, who will use their donation of £1,000 to develop their community garden, followed by St. Mary's Church in Begelly, who will use their £1,000 to boost church funds.

David Anderson, of the Begelly and Kilgetty Community Association, said of the donation: "We are very grateful for the donation as the garden is well used by the community."

Rev. Sarah Geach and the church wardens from St. Mary's Church, added: "This is very generous of Folly Farm and we are very grateful for their support. We're lucky at St. Mary's to be able to include Giraffes and Penguins within our parish."

Zoë Wright, head of marketing at Folly Farm, added: "It's fantastic to be able to give something back to our local community as a thank you for the support they show us as a business.

"These donations are part of our continued community engagement programme which includes local sports and youth club sponsorships and the myriad of charitable evening concerts we host at Folly Farm to raise funds for local and national charities."

Folly Farm re-opens daily tomorrow (Saturday) from 10 am.

New developments for 2014 include an extension to its Carousel Woods indoor play area and a Lion enclosure to open in time for the summer school holidays.
