Local children’s author Dan Anthony has a new book out this month - a spy story set in Wales.
‘Submarine Spies and the Unspeakable Thing’ tells the tale of Caitlin who discovers a plot to smuggle spies into the UK through an undisclosed town on an estuary somewhere in West Wales!
Caitlin thinks she’s rescuing a dog , in fact When Caitlin discovers a dog with a sore paw on the banks of Wales’ most sneaky river, she stumbles upon a mystery so strange, that nobody can bring themselves to talk about it.
She then enters a world of spying, double-talk and mystery, but can Caitlin, who isn’t very old, save the world!
Dan who lives in Tenby writes scripts and books for grown ups and children, began writing for children after working as a scriptwriter for CBBC’s Tracy Beaker series.
His first series, The Rugby Zombies stories, have been big hit - particularly with boys, although he’s always pointing out that it’s really a girl who sorts the zombies out in the end!
Dan’s recent book - The Bus Stop at the End of the World which was featured in the Observer over lockdown is set in Wales’ most remote bus stop - where strange forces from the mysterious past step arrive by bus to save the world!
Dan who was born in Cardiff, tours the country visiting schools and colleges, with many students taking inspiration from his workshops on zombies, dreams and creative writing!
