Plaid Leader and Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones, met on site with concerned Llanddewi Velfrey residents to discuss the need to widen the pavement running through the village as well as reducing the speed limit.

AM Nerys Evans asked the Plaid leader and Economic Development and Transport Minister to visit the village after many local residents had contacted her with their concerns.

She said: "I was extremely pleased that Ieuan Wyn Jones was able to come here to Llanddewi Velfrey to listen to residents and see at first-hand their real concerns with the traffic through the village. As everyone who regularly travels on the A40 knows, it's a very busy road and is extremely dangerous for pedestrians to walk on the pavement from one side of the village to the other. We know that there have been several incidents and we could see from the traffic here today the severity of the situation.

"The importance of this issue was reflected in the number of local residents who came out to meet with the Minister and I'd like to thank everybody for taking the time to come and tell us their views. I'm confident that the minister will take these concerns back with him and to seriously look at the situation with his colleagues to see what can be done to increase pedestrian safety in Llanddewi Velfrey."
